Hello, I’m Matthew Sloneker. I would first like to share a little about myself. I am a senior in Mechanical Engineering and a member of the Cooperative Education program for Mechanical Engineering. I have five internships that vary throughout my fiveyear career here at Purdue. All of my internships take place at GE Aircraft Engines located in Cincinnati. I plan on entering one of GE’s Leadership programs in January after my graduation this December. I ran for president because SigEp has been the best decision of my life. |
2009 started off with Indiana Alpha winning Big Man On Campus. On February 27, Zeta Tau Alpha held their annual philanthropy for Susan G. Komen breast cancer research. Whether it was a skip-a-meal, making a sheet sign covering one entire side of our house, or getting family and friends involved with raising money, SigEp was there. After weeks of hard work and preparation, Brother Jason Williams, a Sophomore in the school of Management, was awarded the title of Big Man On Campus out of 27 contestants. The philanthropy collected a total of $108,000, one of the largest single dollar amounts for a Greek philanthropy on campus!
Indiana Alpha hosted our second annual volleyball philanthropy. We teamed up with Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity to host ten sororities in a sand volleyball tournament in our front yard. The event raised money for testicular cancer. Brothers that are making a difference on campus are: Tommy Thiel, a Junior in Communication, and Tim Grosso, a Junior in Management, are new members of Gimlet; Curt Gendron, a Junior in Management and Tim Grosso were initiated into Order of Omega; and KC Sands, a Junior in Management, was elected president of College Mentors for Kids. Finally, the brothers enjoyed our spring formal in Chicago. The house chartered the Anita-Dee II for a great evening on Lake Michigan of dinner and dancing. I invite you all back this fall to the Alumni Golf Outing and Homecoming. I look forward to seeing you then.
